You're on Fire!
You’re on Fire!
By Sharon Byrd
A light flickers within me
Calling to my very soul,
Asking me to follow with abandonment.
Count the cost, it whispers,
And then again: Count the cost.
Wider and wider become my eyes.
As they begin to focus
Secrets start making sense.
Scales fall.
What was distant suddenly seems
Not so distant
Anymore.
The light flickers within me
To my very soul.
The heat warms everything inside me.
There is excitement,
Anticipation that comes from knowledge.
From secrets revealed,
Truths come into focus and lives change
My life
Changes.
The light flickers within,
Beckoning my very soul,
Asking me to walk – no, run! –
To the Source of the light.
Fear becomes focus
As the blood of Jesus
Literally
Empties my sin,
Clearing my conscience to the core.
Leaving a fresh,
New, empty wineskin,
Waiting to be filled.
The Light flickers in front,
Above, behind, beside me.
In front
To draw me,
Behind
To push and protect,
Above
To cover and allow me
To hide under His wing.
Beside
To remind me
I am never alone.
The Fire of my very soul
Calls to you, calls to me,
Continually.
For His flame
Will never be quenched.
His flame is eternal.
What then can separate us from the love of God?
