I Have Yet to Speak on God’s Behalf
By Sharon Byrd

 A Christian is not someone

Hiding in an alley,

But a ‘city on a hill,’

Not a village in a valley.

We should never court publicity,

If our virtue is the cost.

For what good is to gain the world,

And our own precious soul be lost?

To keep back truth is a sin against others,

To be honest, it’s an offence from us

To hide, yes, is modest,

To hide Christ is simply unjust.

Do not hide your talent,

Trade with it to give more.

To speak for God is refreshing;

To saints, sinners, and the poor.

Seek in the Name of Christ

Who was not ashamed of you.

Speak His Name, Jesus,

Speak His Power, speak His Truth

If you cannot preach on the mountain,

Then preach in your homes

If not in the temple,

Then in the fields on your own.

If not in front of thousands,

Then preach to that one

That Jesus put in front of you,

Preach Christ till He comes

If you cannot speak with trumpet,

Then use a still small voice.

Tell your friends and neighbors,

Help the people make a choice

Let testimony flow through you,

To every passerby, give drink.

From the hidden springs inside you,

You know way more than you think.

And when all is said and all is won,

And you look back, smile, and laugh

May the Savior cause you to say once more,

I have yet to speak on God’s behalf.”

To speak for God will be refreshing to ourselves, cheering to the saints,
useful to sinners, and honoring to the Savior. -Charles Spurgeon
