When Truth Falls in the Street | Guest Poem by Stuart Reblin
“When Truth Falls in the Street” by Ps. Stuart Reblin
Tell me what has become of the Law of our Land
The Constitution, upon which America stands?
For upon it justice and order were born,
But on Capitol Hill it hangs tattered and torn
By politicians who care more for their seat
Than for honor, and so Truth falls in the street.
Civil Servants lead by securing our trust
And to govern a nation this virtue is must.
So please silence the rhetoric and provide explanations,
Communicate truth for the good of the nation.
Use your office for good, not self-serving feats
Show integrity please, don’t throw Truth in the street.
Since when have opinion polls governed the Court?
Rhetoric abounds of unusual sort!
No human is perfect, but we aren’t the standard
The Law becomes judge once the gavel is hammered.
What’s Law for the peasant is Law for the king
A double-standard in justice will anarchy bring.
Don’t be fooled by ‘spin’ – deceit will repeat
When bias survives Truth is thrown in the street.
Social architects build structures which eventually blind
By distorting true facts and cluttering the mind
With peripheral matters and issues confused
Through the influence of media grossly abused.
An unethical standard makes justice retreat,
And we fail to discern when Truth falls in the street.
We have lawmakers governed by self preservation
While chaos and violence flood over our nation.
Are there leaders in Congress with such moral conviction
That they’ll stand in the face of their own inquisition?
Are there patriot leaders on Capitol Hill
Or political puppets without passion or will?
If you cower for fear, honor lies in defeat!
This is what happens when Truth falls in the street.
If we surrender, for convenience, the Law of our land;
If we fail to keep and embrace God’s commands;
Then there remains no clear future or safe bridge for our feet!
This tragedy befalls nations when Truth falls in the street.
In the midst of confusion, chaos and fear
There is still hope for healing, the answer is clear.
It is found in repentance and faith in our God
Who forgives all our sin, and restores all our wrongs.
So, America, return to foundations of old.
Don’t throw Truth in the street or allow faith to grow cold.
