KINDER - 4th GRADE

LESSON 3: THE MESSAGE: “CHRIST ALONE” (Acts 15:1-35)

  • What was the purpose of the Old Testament law?

  • Why can’t the law save us?

  • What does it mean to be saved by the grace of the Lord Jesus Christ? (Acts 15:11)

5th GRADE

LESSON 9: LOOK FOR TRUTHS REVEALED

MEMORY VERSE: Psalm 119:105 “Your word is a lamp for my feet and a light for my path.”

FAMILY DISCUSSION STARTERS

We learned to ask certain questions when reading a descriptive text.  After reading the account of Esther, we answered these questions and used the following scriptures to biblically support our answers.  Discuss these questions and scriptures together as a family.

  • How does the account of Esther fit into God’s big story?  (Genesis 12:3)

  • What does the account of Esther reveal about God?  (Daniel 2:20-21)

  • How do God’s people behave in the account of Esther? (Philippians 2:14-15)

  • How does the account of Esther illustrate the Gospel and point us to Jesus?  (Romans 6:23)

6th GRADE

LESSON 6: WHO AM I?

MEMORY VERSE: Genesis 1:26-28

Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, after our likeness. And let them have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over the livestock and over all the earth and over every creeping thing that creeps on the earth.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them. And God blessed them. And God said to them, “Be fruitful and multiply and fill the earth and subdue it, and have dominion over the fish of the sea and over the birds of the heavens and over every living thing that moves on the earth.”

FAMILY DISCUSSION STARTERS

This week, we compared the Christian worldview to naturalism, new spirituality, Islam, and postmodernism. As a family, review what each worldview teaches about humans.

Christianity: God purposefully created humans in His image. Humans are not animals but were created to care for all that God created. God made humans either male or female on purpose. We are each a soul and a body.

Naturalism: Humans are accidentally evolved animals. We are only our bodies. It doesn’t matter if we are boys or girls.

New spirituality: Humans are accidentally evolved animals, but only the spiritual is real. We need to continue evolving by following our hearts. It doesn’t matter if we are boys or girls.

Islam: Allah purposefully created humans. But humans are not created in Allah’s image. We are bodies and souls. It matters if we are boys or girls, but being a boy is better.

Postmodernism: Humans are accidentally evolved animals. We cannot be sure who we are. Communities help humans decide who they want to be. Humans can be anything their community allows them to be.

Read through what the Bible teaches about humans again (Gen.1:26–28). As a family, talk about if you treat other humans the way God designed them. What are some things you need to do differently so that you start treating others like they are made in God’s image?

Spend time praying as a family, asking that God would help you to treat others like they are made in His image. Pray for those who practice other worldviews and ask that God would provide you with opportunities to share the good news of Jesus with them.

7TH & 8TH GRADE

LESSON 1: THE BIRTH OF JESUS (THE GOSPELS)

MEMORY VERSE: John 1:1-2
In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.  He was in the beginning with God.

  • How does Mary’s response—calling herself the Lord’s servant and willingly submitting to His will—reveal the posture every faithful Christian should have?

  • How does Mary’s faith as a young teenager encourage you in your own obedience to God?

  • In what ways has your relationship with Jesus changed your own life?
