The Heartbeat of God

By Elvira Bujanda

Amazingly, from a central cell mass in your mother’s womb that began at conception, the first organ formed is the heart, which begins to beat spontaneously during the fourth week of gestation.

Within the next week, this muscular pump has circulated the flow of blood to the brain. The heart’s central tube has divided into four chambers, and these begin moving the blood throughout the body’s nervous system.

The heart’s electrical field is five thousand times greater than that of the brain!

The body is alive because of the blood. Because of the heartbeat.

God’s heartbeat is His love for people; that they should come to know Him by the blood of His Son, Jesus.

David prayed, “With my whole heart I seek You; do not let me stray from Your commandments” (Psalm 119:10). He wanted to have God’s same heartbeat, as we should.

We are God’s creation, made in His image and set apart for His will.

In the Bible it tells us that as in one physical body there are many parts, organs and members, and just as all these parts do not have the same function, “so we, as numerous as we are, are one body in Christ (the Messiah) and individually we are parts of one another (mutually dependent on one another” (Romans 12:4-5, AMP).

As Christian believers, if we trust God’s Word and choose to live by it, we will be blessed. Ephesians 3:17-19 tells us that if Christ dwells in our hearts by faith we will be rooted and grounded in His love, that we will able to comprehend with all the saints the breadth and length and depth and height of God’s love that passes knowledge, and that we will be filled with all the fullness of God.

Because Jesus is the Head of the body, which is the Church, then everything flows to us from Him. Then we as His disciples will be “fruitful in every good work, increasing in the knowledge of God, strengthened with all might according to His glorious power, unto all patience and longsuffering with joyfulness” (Colossians 1:10-11).

By God’s grace we have been saved, and the heartbeat of God is for souls. By faith we can operate as the body of Christ and win them to Him. “For he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him” (Hebrew 11:6).

Hebrews 4:12 tells us: “For the Word that God speaks is alive and full of power (making it active, operative, energizing and effective): it is sharper than any two-edged sword, and penetrates to the dividing line of breath of life (soul) and (the immortal) spirit, and of joints and marrow (of the deepest part of our nature), exposing and sifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart” (AMP). We must carry His Word to those who don’t know Him and make them alive in Him.

That is the heartbeat of God.
